Welcome to my little corner of the vast God planned domain. I plan to share mostly my card projects here, you might even possible see some scrapping, quilt projects, and photography. Who knows I may even try other craft projects. Might even share a selection of little recipe cards I have collected over the past few years - scrapped, of course. There may even be some little things of greatness of my daily life. Every now and then, I might even vent!

Sketch Friday Frenzie - SFF123011

This is the Sketch we were given on http://sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/ to play with.  I have been wanting to use this new stamp set and had a color challenge elsewhere to complete; therefore this is what I came up with.

The Colors to use for the Color Challenge were Going Gray, Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise which is a past color combination from SCS. I did not have going gray so used Basic Gray.
Stamps:Apothecary Art from Stampin' Up
Paper:  Basic Gray, Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise, DSP Twitterpated
Accessories: Colored Pencil, Rhinestones, Basic Gray Satin Ribbon SU, Dimensional

One Sheet Wonder - Happy Birthday

I love doing one sheet wonder cards where you get many cards from an 8X8 sheet of designer paper. Kathy at http://www.joyfullymadedesigns.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html did nine cards but I took the waste pieces and cut them to make a 10th card for the set. My mother told me at Christmastime she was sort of sad she did not get cards because she was almost out of Birthday ones.  I am sending her this set as a thank you for keeping us over the holidays. Kathy thanks for sharing you did an awesome job on your Christmas set of cards. Love them!

On Sunday the 18th I was excited to finally do some fun cards. I decided to look into the Featured Stamper  (FS25) and found this card http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1688032?&cat=500&ppuser=219970 and loved the simplicity of it so wanted to do up a few for the SCS BRAK groupies.  After completing them finally today I was looking at the Color Challenge at SCS because I needed a couple more cards and one for my daughter coming up soon.

Thence, this card.  Was so simple yet I think very elegant.  Loved the blues for the CC355. I also set my new year's resolution already - to be ahead on my two for two swap group I am the owner of. I need to be ahead this month since I will be having a brain tumor removed the end of January and not sure how things will go from there.  All prayers are appreciated.

Top card                                   Bottom Card
Calypso Coral         Ink used      Night of Navy
Whisper White        Paper       Night of Navy, White & Bashful Blue
       Mixed Bunch           Stamps         Sincere Salutations

Thanks for taking the time to look at and appreciate my cards. I so enjoy making them for all to see.

Gift Bags for Many

This idea was borrowed from http://dostamping.typepad.com/dostamping_with_dawn/2011/10/stampinup-its-a-wrap-hershey-nuggets-gift-wrap-video.html after I was thinking about how to do these. Sorry my picture is a little blurry - the one in the above link is much better. These were the little gift packets I made for my AWANA children grades K-2.  Each little bag has 4 wrapped Hershey Nuggets. I used lots of scraps to complete these little packages. Made about 45 of them.  Came up with the idea on my way home one night before a craft Women 2 Women gathering (little an old fashioned quilting bee) at our church. Already had the little layer accents but was not sure what I wanted to do with them. This was the perfect little touch for each little bag. There, 1 other mother and I helped 8 little girls ages 6-10 each make one where a few of the girl punched holes in the top and made them like Christmas ornaments for their family tree or to give to a parent.

Stamp - It's A Warp Holiday
Paper - Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and
scraps of the Christmas DSP after making several cards.
Ink - Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories - Plastic little bags by Wilton and K&Company layered accents

Just a Sampling of 2011 Christmas Cards

All three of these cards were made using new stamp sets from Stampin' Up along withe new DSP. The sketches are all taken from SCS sketches.  I at this time am not remembering the specifics of each card. The top card is done with the Pines & Poinsettia stamp in Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi and Very Vanilla.

This second card is using theComfort and Joy stamp set using Real Red, Chocolate Chip & Old Olive. I love this stamp done in the dark rich shade.

My 3rd card uses the Northern Hearts stamp set and punched with a label backed with another set of labels.  Love the Merry Christmas from the Penned stamp set.

Thanks for looking and hope you all enjoy my cards.  Thanks ahead for any and all comments, they are greatly appreciated.

I AM Still Alive

I know it has been a long time. Summer and fall have been quite hectic with my job changing locations and my husband breaking his leg.  But I am in the groove again and getting ready for the holiday seasons.

This was a card I made this summer for a swap that was supposed to represent us.  I love to work with flowers and love to have flowers in my life.

Stamps: Fabulous Florets,
Papers: Wild Wasabi, Tangerine Tango, Peach Parfait, Whisper White, Beyond the Garden DSP
Ink: Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi
Accessories: Sheer peach ribbon, Rhinestones, Dimensionals and punches

Using an SCS sketch, I stamped the green leaves on the white paper. Stamped with Melon Mambo on white, tangerine and peach and the cut out the flower and used dimensionals. The sentiment is done with two different tag punches that I layers and used dimensionals.  The back layer was the same as middle layer cut in half and slid off a little to create another layer.

Ink: SU Night of Navy

From the Heart Rich Pacific Delight

This card was quite easy to do. I used the color challenge from SCS for the week of June1 CC325 and a Sketch from quite awhile ago SC209.  The colors to use were Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight:
 cm76t-jpg   cm22t-jpg   cm80t-jpg
I started with a Daffodil background.  Then mounted the pieced I marbled onto a Pacific. To marble paper is quite easy. I took three marbles and placed in a tiny jar with 3-4 drops of refill ink starting with the lightest color. I then dumped them onto White paper that was in a shallow box and rolled thee marbles around a few times. then clean jar and marbles until water is clear and repeat with next color. I repeated this technique twice with each color. You do not usually need to add anymore ink the second time. Then I cut the paper to size I wanted and using the better patterned pieces. Then used a scrap of Razzleberry with a Yellow corduroy button attached through with a small piece of burgundy ribbon.  Then stamped my flower and sentiment with Daffodil and mounted on Pacific.

Stamps: Watercolor Trio
Paper; Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point & Daffodil Delight
Ink: Same colors as above
Accessories: Yellow Corduroy Button from SU and a small piece of Offray burgundy ribbon

Thanks for looking and sharing any comments you may have, they are greatly appreciated.

Paper: Concord Crush, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz
Ink: Concord Crush
Accessories: Organza ribbon white, SU Flower brads, SU Scallop square punch, SU small label punch, Dimensional

This was for a Color Challenge CC287 titled Concord Parfait Pizzazz.  I love using the color challenges for inspiration. I had not used this stamp set yet so decided I needed to get it worked in a bit and came up with this. The center is a label and some organza ribbon and a large flower SU brad used .  I also used dimensionals under each squared that was adhered to the scallop punched squares.

Thanks for looking and any comments are greatly appreciated.

The Earth Laughs

Looking through the SCS gallery last night I found a card done by sleepyinseattle that I really liked there fore I decided to case it.  I then found the CC324 and decided to case this card in the same colors and also used the MOJO192.  Thanks sleepy. She is one of my favorites to get inspiration from.

Keywords: CC324 Mojo192 Fabulous Florets
Stamps: Fabulous Florets
Paper: Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Perfect Plum, Very Vanilla
Ink: same as paper
Accessories: Border and Label punches, Marina Mist Gross grain ribbon, Dimensionals, Square Lattice Embossing folder

I used the soft suede as my card base, layered on that perfect plum and baja breeze each using the scallop punch from SU.  Stamped the foliage from Fabulous Florets with Soft Suede and the smaller flowers on Very Vanilla and Perfect plum using the plum ink. I dabbed some perfect plum onto the vanilla flower to give it some color. I then stamped the sentiment onto very vanilla and cut into an oval with a SU punch and used other  label punches to make the background for it using the baja, plum and suede. Tied a Marina mist ribbon around the layers and added a bow.  I also used dimensionals behind the plum florets and the oval sentiment.

Thanks for sharing your comments as they are very much appreciated.

Tiptoe Thru The Tulips

This is a card I made for a tulip swap. I actually cased it from a swap I got when I participated on SCS swaps.  I do not know who made the original.  This was quite fun to do - The vase is the Christmas Ornament punch  with ribbon over the bottom to make it look flat. The tulips are three pieces punches with the bird punch part normally used for the wings. I added some chalk around the edges to give them more definition. The leaves are the branch on the bird punch also. The sentiment is also one of the SU label punches. The background Baja Breeze was run through the Square Lattice embossing folder.

Papers: A scrap of DSP in a yellow color - which one I am not sure, Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Wild Wasabi, Lavendar Lace, Regal Rose, So Saffron.
Ink: Wild Wasabi
Technique: Paper piecing and/or Punch art

Thanks for looking and sharing your comments.
